A Brave New World

Welcome to my brand new blog.

This blog marks the start of a new and exciting stitching adventure for me. I am officially a STUDENT again. It's been 14 years since I graduated university so it's been a while. This is a whole different study adventure too as this time I am hoping to explore my creative side.

I have signed up for a City & Guilds distance learning course in machine embroidery. You can read all about the course and some of the adventures that lie ahead of me here.

I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. Anyone that maybe coming to this space via my personal blog, may be quite surprised to hear that I am undertaking a machine based course as I'm sure most of you will know how much I like working by hand. Well I figured it was time to push the boundaries and really challenge myself, and City and Guilds is something I have wanted to do for a long time.

I have downloaded all the material in Module One, which is an exploration of line and colour, and am excited to get started. I have lots of ideas floating around in my head, and I can see that this could quite easily become all consuming if I let it, so already I know that trying to find a work, home, life and 'study time' balance will be one of the challenges ahead.

Wish me luck.

  4. Oh WELL DONE and BRAVE indeed!! I used to think about doing the C&G in Patchwork and Quilting distant learning style but never was brave enough. Now I don't think I'd have the mental energy needed. Good luck with your adventure. Elly up in Scotland
